Bionic Systems

Big problems aren't exclusive to big companies.

Good technology shouldn't be either.

Bionic Systems puts serious technology within reach of businesses that traditional consulting economics do not serve well. We study businesses, uncover real problems, identify where technology can create meaningful improvement to how businesses look, work and deliver...then we design the solution and build the working prototype, at $0 cost.

And all of that happens before we even introduce ourselves.

An established reclamation business of roughly thirty years, working a five-acre historic yard near Gloucester and a second showroom at Uley, whose constantly changing stock, specialist knowledge and historic provenance deserved a digital experience that could carry them: accessible, scalable and commercially effective.

Problem

The original website worked as a digital brochure. It carried company information, product categories, locations, opening hours and contact details, but no view of what was actually in stock: visitors could not search or filter inventory, compare items, check availability, condition, dimensions or quantity, or raise an enquiry attached to a particular product, and behind the site inventory visibility, enquiries, follow-up and reporting all leaned on manual staff involvement.

What we discovered

The deeper problem was not an outdated website. The customer experience, the inventory record, the sales process and the internal systems were not connected, so customers called or travelled before knowing whether an item suited them, and staff answered the same routine questions again and again. We also found an underused commercial advantage, because Ronson’s history, expertise, unusual stock, yard scale and worldwide shipping distinguish it from an ordinary salvage business and the original experience did not say so.

  • Is the item still available, and how much of it?
  • What condition is it in, and what are its measurements and weight?
  • Where did it come from, and where does it sit in the yard?
  • Can it be reserved, collected, packed or delivered?

What people see

The improved experience gives customers a clearer, richer and more functional journey. It reads as a searchable digital extension of the physical yard rather than a company brochure.

  • Structured live inventory to search and browse, with clear categories and the number of available lots in each.
  • Available, reserved and sold items told apart at a glance.
  • Detailed pages for individual products, carrying dimensions, material, condition, quantity, coverage and weight.
  • The history and provenance of distinctive pieces, and yard-zone references showing where stock sits.
  • An enquiry raised from the relevant product page itself, and related products found without restarting the search.
  • Telephone, email, location, opening-hour and export information within easy reach, on a desktop and on a phone.
  • Stronger photography, typography, navigation and product storytelling, positioning Ronson as an established specialist with distinctive stock.

What changed underneath

The customer-facing redesign sits on a broader software and operational foundation. Customer actions now flow from the website into structured internal workflows, instead of disappearing into disconnected telephone calls, inboxes and staff notes.

  • A structured database in which every item of stock is an individual product record, with standardized status, category, material, dimensions, condition, quantity, provenance and yard location.
  • Live inventory management connecting availability to the website, with administrative workflows for adding, updating, reserving, selling and removing stock.
  • Search and filtering driven by that structured data, and product-specific enquiry capture that keeps the item and the customer context together.
  • CRM integration for customer and sales records, automated enquiry routing and follow-up, customer notifications, and tracking of each enquiry through the sales process.
  • Analytics covering visitor activity, stock interest, customer behaviour, enquiries and conversion pathways, and operational insight into which products draw the most demand.
  • Improved accessibility, page structure, search metadata, image descriptions and social-sharing information, with secure handling of customer, enquiry, inventory and administrative data.
  • A modern application repository and a scalable architecture, so the website, database, CRM, analytics and automation workflows run as one connected system.

Solution

Bionic designed and built a connected digital yard, inventory, sales and customer-service system around the way Ronson Reclaim already works: a modern brand and a responsive, accessible website, searchable live inventory with structured product and provenance records, real-time stock status, administrative inventory management, physical yard-location guidance, product-specific enquiry capture, CRM integration and sales-pipeline management, automated routing and follow-up, analytics and operational reporting, and visit, collection, delivery and export information. It is not simply a redesigned website: it is a business system that makes the stock easier to discover, the customers easier to support and the sales activity easier to manage.

The improved site is live at a preview address and moves to the client’s own domain on handover.

§ 02/ What can we do?

Five capabilities.Built to work together.

We combine websites and digital experience, AI and automation, software and integrations, security, and service improvement to solve business problems end to end, from the websites and user interfaces that people see and use to the systems and workflows that power them.

Capabilities · 05Open any row for the detail
  1. What it means

Modern websites and digital experiences that make a business easier to discover, understand, trust, buy from and work with.

    What Bionic can do

We design and build modern websites and digital experiences that make businesses easier to discover, understand, trust, buy from and work with, from public websites and customer journeys to portals, interfaces and self-service experiences.

Your problem may sound like this...
Our website needs replacing. Our website is terrible. Our website doesn't reflect the quality of our business.People visit the site, but they don't contact or buy from us.Customers can't easily understand what we do.The site looks bad on mobile.Customers have to call or email us for things they should be able to do online. Our digital experience feels old compared with our competitors. We need something more than a brochure website. Our website and the rest of our business systems don't connect.
    Typical capabilities
    WebsitesCustomer journeysPortalsUX/UISelf-serviceMobile experiencesConversion
    What improves as a result

Sometimes the website is the problem. Sometimes it is simply the most visible symptom of a deeper problem.

  2. What it means

AI and automation that reduce repetitive work, make information easier to find and use, and let routine processes run with less manual intervention.

    What Bionic can do

We use AI and automation to reduce repetitive work, make information easier to find and use, improve customer and employee experiences, and help routine business processes happen with less manual intervention. That can range from a simple automated workflow to intelligent assistants, AI agents and more sophisticated systems with human oversight built in.

Your problem may sound like this...
I spend too much time doing the same things over and over. Can AI actually help my business? We keep answering the same customer questions.Someone has to manually follow up every enquiry. We're constantly copying information from one place to another. We have a lot of information, but nobody can find what they need quickly.Too much of the business depends on me personally.I want customers to get help even when nobody is available. My team is spending time on admin that shouldn't require a person. We've experimented with AI, but we don't know how to make it genuinely useful. We want to automate more, but some decisions still need a human involved.
    Typical capabilities

    What improves as a result

Help me spend less time doing things that software could do for me.

For a larger organization, the exact same capability can mean intelligent workflows, governed AI, agentic systems, decision support and enterprise automation.

  3. What it means

Software built when the tools a business has cannot do what it needs, and integrations that make the tools it already has work as one.

    What Bionic can do

We design and build software when the tools a business already has cannot do what it needs. We also connect existing platforms so information can move between them without unnecessary re-entry, disconnected processes or manual work. That can mean a small internal tool, a customer portal, a complete application, or the integrations that make several existing systems work as one.

Your problem may sound like this...
There isn't an app that does exactly what we need. We're running too much of the business from spreadsheets. Our systems don't talk to each other.I have to enter the same information in several places. Our website doesn't connect properly with our CRM.Customers need somewhere they can log in and manage things themselves. We need a dashboard so we can actually see what is happening. We have several tools, but the process between them is still manual. We've outgrown the software we're using. We have an idea for an application but don't know how to turn it into something real. Our staff have created workarounds because the existing system doesn't fit the business.
    Typical capabilities
Custom appsPortalsDashboardsBusiness toolsAPIsCRM connectionsPayment integrationsSystem connections
    What improves as a result

If the tool you need doesn't exist, we can build it. If the tools you already have don't work together, we can connect them.

  4. What it means

Understanding and reducing technology risk, protecting customer and company information, and meeting the privacy, governance and compliance obligations that apply.

    What Bionic can do

We help businesses understand and reduce technology risk, protect customer and company information, strengthen the security of websites and systems, and meet appropriate privacy, governance and compliance obligations. Security is also built into the products and systems we design rather than treated as something added at the end.

Your problem may sound like this...
Is my website secure? Is customer information protected?Could we get hacked? Are we handling data properly? Are we complying with what we're supposed to comply with?Who can actually access this information? What happens if one of our accounts is compromised? Are the tools we're connecting creating new security risks? We're introducing AI: what controls should we have around it?A customer is asking us questions about our security and we don't know how to answer them.We need to improve our security, but don't know where the biggest risks actually are.We have policies, but we're not sure whether what happens in practice matches them.
    Typical capabilities

    What improves as a result

Security isn't something we bolt on at the end. It runs through everything we build.

  5. What it means

Looking at how work actually moves through the business, from a customer's request to the delivered service, and removing the effort, delay and handoffs in the way.

    What Bionic can do

We look at how work actually moves through the business, from the moment a customer asks for something to the point where the service is delivered, and identify where unnecessary effort, delay, manual handoffs or poor technology are getting in the way. We then redesign the process and, where useful, support it with better digital experiences, automation, software and integrations.

Your problem may sound like this...
Customers wait too long. We're doing too much manually.Everything comes through WhatsApp.I keep copying things between systems.Customers have to call us for everything. My staff waste too much time doing this.Nobody really knows where something is once it enters the process. We keep losing enquiries or forgetting to follow up.Customers have to repeat the same information several times.Different people handle the same task differently. We've added technology, but the process still feels broken. The business has grown, but the way we operate hasn't.Too many things depend on one person knowing what to do next.
    Typical capabilities
Business processesCustomer service journeysSchedulingWorkflow improvementSelf-serviceHandoffsOperational automationService management
    What improves as a result

Make the business easier to run and easier to do business with.

The problem doesn’t care which discipline it belongs to.

Real business problems rarely fit neatly into one category. A poor website may also involve a broken customer journey, missing automation and disconnected systems. A slow service may need a better interface, software integration and AI-assisted workflows. A new application may require security, privacy and operational changes alongside the engineering.

Bionic combines the capabilities the problem requires rather than forcing the problem into a predefined service.

§ 03/ How are we different?

We work backwards from traditional consulting.

Traditional model
01You identify the problem

Explain your business
Pay for discovery
Receive recommendations
Approve a proposal
Wait for development
Eventually see something
Bionic
01We find you
Study the business
Identify the opportunity
Diagnose what is really happening
Imagine something better
Build the future state
Then introduce ourselves

Everything before this point happens before we’ve ever spoken.

Bionic finds a company, studies its customers, services, digital experience and operating model, forms a point of view, imagines where technology can improve things, builds something tangible, and only then approaches the organization.

How we work · 06 stagesOutside in, then face to face
01We find

We identify businesses where the customer experience, technology or operating model appears capable of meaningful improvement.

02We study

We examine the business from the outside in: its website, digital experience, services, customer journeys, technology footprint and operating model.

03We diagnose

We identify visible friction and trace it backwards.

A weak booking experience may actually be an integration problem. A confusing website may expose an unclear service model. A manual contact form may reveal a workflow automation opportunity. A poor customer portal may indicate a deeper software problem. A trust problem may reveal security or privacy shortcomings.
04We imagine better

We design a better future state across both the customer experience and the systems supporting it.

05We build

We make that future tangible through a prototype, redesigned digital experience, working application, automation or integrated system.

06Then we talk

Only then do we introduce ourselves and show the organization what we found and what could be different.

Bionic works across both.

The part your customers touch and the part that makes it work are one system. We design and build on both sides of the line.

§ 04/ Let's Work Together

Usually we find you.But sometimes you find us first.

If something in your business isn’t working as well as it should, or you suspect there may be a better way...tell us about it. It could be your website, a manual process, disconnected software, an AI opportunity, a security concern, or something you just can’t put your finger on...but you feel it can be better.
